Matadors are provincial champs

With a shootout goal by Colin Saulnier, the Mathieu-Martin Matadors captured the 2024 NBIAA provincial AAA banner.  The Matadors trailed the L’Odyssée Olympiens 2-0 with less than three minutes to play in the third period of the championship final.  However, a shorthanded goal by David Trainor at 17:38 and Alexandre Vautour’s tying goal at 18:49 sent the game into overtime which was followed by a shootout.  Simon Thibodeau and Noah Melanson had scored the Olympiens’ goals.  Mathieu-Martin’s William Gray was the winning goaltender while L’Odyssée’s Alexandre Bourgeois-Cormier took the loss.  The Matadors last provincial title was in 2019.
