The Mathieu-Martin Matadors scored three unanswered third period goals for a 3-1 win against the Kennebecasis Valley Blue Knights to clinch a spot in the NBIAA’s AAA provincial championship final. The Matadors got goals from Alexandre Gagnon, Olivier Chiasson, and Gabriel Comeau while Carsten Dunlap replied for the Blue Knights. The Clément-Cormier Cavaliers were undefeated in the round robin games and will face Mathieu-Martin in the final that will be played at the UNIplex Centre on Sunday at 2:45pm. The Cavaliers completed the round robin with a 4-2 victory against the St. Malachy’s Saints. Noah Cormier, Brody Breau, Olivier O’Brien, and Xavier LeBlanc scored for Clément-Cormier while Grant Murray had both Saints goals.
In the morning games, Clément-Cormier’s Noah Collette scored a shorthanded overtime goal as they edged Mathieu-Martin 5-4. Aliou Maguiraga, Brody Breau, Cory Ferguson, and Cédric Cormier also found the back of the net for the Cavaliers while the Matadors’ goals came from Maxime LeBlanc (2), David Trainor, and Alexandre Gagnon. The Blue Knights defeated the Saints 6-1 in the other game.
