Johnny Chambers’s goal with 38 seconds left in the 3rd period gave the Harrison Trimble Trojans a 3-2 victory against the Fredericton High Black Kats in the first game of the NBIAA provincial AAA championship tournament. Matt Lint and Mack Campbell also scored for the Trojans while Craig Oliver and Hunter Francis replied for the Black Kats. Tojans’ goaltender, Jamal Nelson, made 39 saves and Brendan Gorman of the Black Kats faced 28 shots.
In the second game of the evening, the Riverview High Royals battled the Leo Hayes Lions to a 2-2 tie. The Royals’ goals came from Luke Robison and Thomas Doiron while Cedric Doiron and Sean Ferguson scored for the Lions. Josh Doyle of the Royals and Joey Cormier of the Lions guarded the nets. The Royals had a 29-26 edge in shots.
The round robin games continue on Saturday.
